The measurement of dipper and non-dipper blood pressure is done through calculating percentages. Daytime refers to systolic blood pressure subtracted by night time meaning systolic blood pressure divided by mean daytime systolic blood pressure. It should normally be between 10 to 20 percent. Based on this, people are  divided into four phenotypes. Dippers are normal people whose blood pressure dips during night or sleep between 10 to 20 percent. The second type are the non-dippers whose blood pressure does not dip. The third type is extreme dippers whose systolic blood pressure dips more than 20 percent. Another type is the reversed dipping which refers to the blood pressure rises during sleep instead of dipping. Hence ,if the blood pressure is not normal, it can lead to situations which can cause cardiovascular events in the future.Dr. Rajendra Kumar Rawala, cardiologist from Hisar, Haryana discusses how to measure dipper and non-dipper blood pressure
