Hypertension is widely regarded as a silent killer and is only detected by a blood pressure monitor. It is usually asymptomatic. Rarely there may be fatigue, uneasiness, tiredness, headache or shortness of breath during physical activities. If the blood pressure is consistently on the higher side, it may be regarded as hypertension. Treatment includes medications and lifestyle modifications. Medications and doctors advice must be followed consistently. Blood pressure is a common risk factor for coronary artery disease and stroke and thus must be kept under control.
