Proper diabetes tests prove crucial for patients as it ensures that this condition is handled well. The diabetic test is usually done on fasting and after fasting. The frequency of the test depends on the reports of the patient. If the blood sugar is at the optimum level, it can be done every two to three months but if the blood sugar is on the higher side, then it is better to do it every month. The important test is HBA1C that detects the blood sugar level every two to three months. If the HBA1C level is normal, the test can be done every six months. The next test is the kidney function test to check the serum urea and creatinine levels. If the value is normal, it can be done every two to three months and more frequently in the case of higher value. Lipid profile is another crucial test because it is associated with diabetes mellitus and hence this must be done at least once a year and more frequently if the blood cholesterol levels are high. The foot must also be checked during the doctor’s visit. Eye check up must also be done at least once a year to check for cataract, glaucoma, or retinopathy.
