Hand hygiene must be given the topmost priority by everyone as it safeguards individuals against different diseases. The world hand hygiene campaign was started by the WHO in the year 2009. Hand hygiene is the cornerstone of safe and effective healthcare. It may constitute using soap and water or alcohol rubs. It helps to prevent major killer diseases like diarrhea and pneumonia. A lot of infectious diseases can be prevented if proper hand washing is done. A lot of germs can get into our hands and if we do not clean our hands regularly, we may suffer from different kinds of infectious diseases. A minimum of 20 seconds must be spent washing hands as this ensures maximum protection from germs.
