The uterine cervix located at the base of the uterus, is where cervical cancer grows. It takes place in the cervix when the regularly developing cells start to behave abnormally and grow out of control. Depending on the cell of origin, there are two different kinds of cancer.Squamous cell carcinoma is  cancer that arises from cells in the ectocervix. The other type is Adenocarcinoma. Carcinoma Cervix is the  second most frequent cancer in women which also causes the majority of cancer-related deaths. India accounts for 25% of deaths from cervical cancer.Dr. Aruna Kumari, obstetrician and gynecologist from Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, speaks on different types of cervical cancer and how common they are today.
