In most cases, surgery is the only treatment for ACL injury. However, with the MRI report, the diagnosis of the injury is done to see whether the ligament has experienced just a strain, partial tear, full damage or whether there has been an injury in other structures of the knee. After the MRI report, the doctor or concerned surgeon discusses whether the patient requires surgical treatment or non-operative treatment. In most injuries, surgical treatment is way more beneficial for the patient. The patient who is a sports person can walk after the day of his surgery since the bone movement is fixed but he can only come into action like running, jumping at the end of 3 months. Whereas a normal person can move properly at the end of 6 weeks. But proper physiotherapy is needed if the patient wants to go back to his normal life. It may be quite difficult for him to come back to normal life if proper physiotherapy session is not provided.
