Management of post-surgery trauma is very important. It can be optimized before the surgery itself. The blood pressure of hypertensive patients should be reduced before the surgery. Diabetics should take care that their blood sugar levels do not fluctuate much. Hypothyroid patients should be ensured of their TSH levels to normal so there is no thyroid flooding post-surgery. All this is a part of the efficient management of post-surgery trauma. Combining the anesthetics with epidurals and intravenous substances has reduced the need for post-surgery steroids leading to a reduction in infection rate which is a major advancement.
