Cerebral palsy in children is a congenital non-progressive movement disorder where there is a problem in posture and muscle tone. It is associated with abnormal brain development. The primary problems associated with cerebral palsy include movement difficulties and coordination disorders. There is also delayed development in children and they face delayed cognitive dysfunction and speech.  In addition to these, there may also be epilepsy and audiovisual impairments. These issues have to be dealt with by a pediatrician as well as a neurologist. The role of physiotherapy proves crucial here as it helps the children to manage their stiff joints.
