The 20-20-20 rule for eyes is considered effective to prevent eye strain. According to this, every 20 minutes, a person must look 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Gadget usage has increased hugely today and each day a person spends at least 8-10 hours in front of gadgets like laptops, computers or mobile phones. Staring at these screens for a long period of time causes eye fatigue and strain. Gradually the eyes became blurry and itchy and there is pain and redness in the eyes. It is because of this reason that resting for even 20 seconds relaxes the muscles and prevents eye strain and dryness substantially. <br>Dr. Jayashree Thakur, ophthalmologist from Mumbai, Maharashtra, discusses the role of the 20-20-20 rule to prevent eye strain.
