In case of liver problems in newborn babies, the bilirubin level is assessed and a liver function test is done initially to investigate the overall liver condition. Once the problem is figured out, it is important to assess whether it will be treated surgically or non-surgically. An ultrasound is done thereafter to assess the baby’s bile system.
