Management of hypoglycemia usually includes giving glucose to the patient. However, if glucose powder is not available, the patient must be told to crush and swallow two teaspoons of sugar. Drinking coffee or tea may not help in this situation as it takes a little time for these to absorb well. It is therefore recommended to take the sugar in its purest form. If the person becomes drowsy or unconscious, he may be given IV glucose for prompt hypoglycemia management.
