Polycystic kidney disease may be understood as a kind of formation of cysts in the kidney which may result in enlargement of the kidney. It may be genetic as some rare genetic mutation leads to this pathophysiology. Kidney size increases 2 to 4 folds due to water retention. Ultimately the patient has to undergo the dialysis process. Along with the kidney, it may hamper the functions of the liver and brain. It usually affects more males than females.   &lt;br&gt;Dr. Naveen Saxena, a Nephrologist in Jaipur has discussed the genetic inheritance of polycystic kidney diseases.
