In pre-IVF counseling, the couple is evaluated and prescribed medications to optimize the cycle and a series of injections for the growth of follicles is given. Serial scans are used to monitor the growth of follicles. Trigger injection is an important part of IVF. After 34-35 hours, the egg pickup is done under anesthesia using a transvaginal probe. Eggs are cultured and used for IVF ICSI where each egg is fertilized with a single sperm.
