Runner’s knee also known as  chondromalacia patella or iliotibial band is a repeated stress in the knee that is responsible for this disorder. This is usually characterized by pain and swelling in the knee, pain during the knee movements or when climbing up or down the stairs. Sitting in the cross leg position should be avoided when the person is in the healing stage. This is not a very serious problem unless it is because of any anatomical effect. The time that would be required for healing is 6 to 8 weeks. Restricted movements and activities for 1.5 to 2 months is quite sufficient for healing the runner’s knee. In the case of malalignment or anatomical problems, the patient must consult an orthopedician that would require further evaluation and at times surgery also. &lt;br&gt;Dr. R.K.
