Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body. In the case of autoimmune diseases, the immune system of the body cannot differentiate between bacteria, viruses and germs and the healthy tissues and cells of the body. Due to this, the immune system attacks and destroys the healthy cells and tissues. Symptoms of lupus include dryness in the eyes, headache, memory loss, confusion, skin changes, mouth ulcers, chest pain, shortness of breath, muscle pain, joint pain and stiffness.
