Sickle cell disease is a common inherited blood disorder where there is a defect in the adult hemoglobin. This defect is usually genetic in nature. If there are point mutations in the gene, the gene stops making the right type of hemoglobin. This kind of defect in genetic terms is known as a point mutation. It is hidden in the mother and the father who are carriers of sickle cell disease. In this condition, the child has retarded growth, bone pains and pains in different parts of the body. It is usually difficult to diagnose.
