Jaundice in children has always traumatized parents because of the thought that it could lead to liver failure.  It is crucial to know about the causes of jaundice to prevent it. These reasons can be classified as prehepatic, hepatic, and post-hepatic. Pre hepatic jaundice can be caused either due to increased bilirubin levels or because of blood group incompatibility between the mother and the child. On the other hand, hepatic jaundice is often the outcome of hepatitis infection. Lastly, post-hepatic jaundice can be caused by an obstruction in the bile duct. Dr. Santosh T.
