It is important to know that smoking affects health in diverse ways. Cigarettes, bidi and tobacco are all harmful to health. It can produce a heart attack, paralysis, stroke and gangrene in the legs. Blood pressure can also be elevated due to smoking. There can be an aneurysm of the aortic arch, and swelling of the aorta which can rupture. Smoking produces negative effects on the lungs. It can produce chronic abstract pulmonary disease, chronic coughing, sputum production and lung failure. Patients might even have to go for lung transplantation. However, the most common damage smoking does is increase chances of lung cancer. It is highly advisable to quit smoking as it is never too late.
