Parenting styles impact the overall health and wellbeing of children. It affects their development of self-esteem and this in turn helps children to nurture their creativity. Kids with authoritative parents grow up to have the best self-esteem as these parents challenge them to do better while letting them explore and making their own decisions. They feel guided and supported at all times by their parents. Permissive parents nurture children with good self-esteem but since they are not challenged enough, their self-esteem may not be as high as children having authoritative parents. Kids with authoritarian parents have the lowest self-esteem as they grow up in a very restrictive environment. Children who have experienced neglectful parenting also have low self-esteem as they do not feel supported or nurtured enough.
