Detection of prostate cancer can be done in two  forms- one is screen detect and second is experiencing the symptoms of prostate cancer. Problems in urinating, including a slow or weak urinary stream or the need to urinate more often, especially at night, blood in the urine or semen are the common symptoms. Prostate biopsy is done for diagnosis wherein a sample of the cells is taken from the prostate through the back passage or rectum using a needle. The cells are looked at under a microscope in the lab to see if there are any cancer cells. The biopsy can be done during the TRUS. There are many other ways through which the doctors can diagnose prostate cancer and give them proper treatment in order to cure the patient from prostate cancer.Dr. Soumyan Dev, consultant urologist, Mumbai, speaks about symptoms and diagnosis of prostate cancer.
