Heart conditions requiring cardiac surgery can be classified into three types based on the disease: congenital, valvular heart disease, and coronary disease. In the case of congenital disease, a blue baby condition demands immediate surgery, whereas surgery can be delayed in a non-blue baby condition. Valvular heart disease is most common in our country, especially among patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Lastly, in coronary artery disease, patients have blockages. All these conditions are treated surgically when medications do not work.
