Asthma is a disease that can affect both children and older adults. The airways of the person become narrow when he gets asthma. Some of the asthma symptoms include cough, shortness of breath, chest tightness, wheezing, etc. In the case of childhood asthma, the child would have persistent coughs on and off throughout the year, along with a runny nose. The most common symptom of childhood asthma is chest tightness or heaviness. It is very common, and the child needs to be treated with frequent doses of antibiotics. At times the parents would not be able to identify, and a child complaining of frequent wheeze, dry cough, or runny nose must be evaluated for asthma.
