Electronic gadgets are commonly seen in the hands of children. As per the available data., 80.2% of children have a mobile phone in South Africa, 54.3% have computers and 70% are available on social networking sites. As per the US reports, children below five years of age who are addicted to some or the other form of electronic gadget could not even distinguish between reality and fantasy. On the other hand, a study in Poland said excessive use of electronic gadgets affected the sitting posture and spine of the children abnormally. Additionally, it has also affected the cognitive ability of children adversely. Other common health issues caused by excessive use of electronic gadgets include insomnia, cancer and others. Thus, it is vital to restrict the use of these devices and parents should take special care while using those gadgets.Dr. Suneel C.
