Lung infection is a very common and serious disease. The  symptoms of lung infections are similar to other lung diseases like COPD or pulmonary fibrosis. The most common symptom of a lung infection is breathlessness. The patient experiences breathlessness while climbing stairs or doing household work. In severe cases, activities like walking, bathing and changing clothes can also cause breathlessness. Another symptom that indicates lung infection as well as different kinds of lung diseases is the presence of yellow or green coloured phlegm. Phlegm is an indication of infection. Wheezing or releasing sound while breathing is also a major sign of lung infection.  Dr. Suranjan Mukherjee, Senior Consultant Pulmonologist, talks about the symptoms of lung infections.
