Too much of anything is bad for the human body. The brain senses and gives a signal to the body about how much water is to be taken and this must be followed. The kidney functions as per the intake of water. Drinking too much water does not mean that the kidney is functioning more. It is therefore a myth. However, drinking more water helps in flushing out more toxins which in turn may help to prevent urinary tract infections. Dr. V. Chandrasekaran, nephrologist from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, discusses whether drinking too much water ensures a healthy kidney.
