Usually, medical management of tonsillitis is followed wherein antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications are given. If the patient develops chronic tonsillitis, tonsillectomy is opted. This can be done by conventional method or by coblation. In the case of coblation, there is less blood loss and the hospital stay is very short as the day after the surgery, the patient can be discharged from the hospital if his condition is normal. Prevention of tonsilitis is possible by not consuming street food and by putting a mask over the nose and mouth. Frequent hand washing is also crucial to prevent tonsilitis as well as any other type of infection. In the case of tonsillectomy, the patient is recommended to have ice creams after surgery so that there is less blood loss.
