Back pain is prevalent among the age group of 25-45 years. Most common causes include inactivity, bad posture and slip discs. Trauma, congenital listhesis may also cause back pain. It is felt at the back and in the lower limb area. Treatment includes muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatory drugs. MRI and X-rays are needed in case of persistent pain. In the 45-60 age group, hormonal changes and spine deterioration leads to such pain. Calcium and Vitamin D supplementation is given. In the above 65 age group, this pain may be due to osteoporotic collapse and operations may be needed. &lt;br&gt;Dr. V. Shankar, orthopedic from Delhi, speaks on factors causing back pain in adults
